After the success of Arkham Knight, Rocksteady Studios couldn't afford to make another Batman game and instead went on to develop the immensely successful and highly popular LEGO Batman: The Videogame. Without a new Dark Knight for gamers to enjoy, Batman's legacy became tarnished and his fans were left with an intense thirst for more content. With two remakes of Arkham Asylum and Arkham City already released, many people wondered if there was any hope in sight that the latest title would be properly supported or even released at all. While it would be wrong to say that Arkham Knight was a flop, it did have its fair share of problems. While the game was praised for its combat and graphics, there were some unfulfilled promises left behind that has caused many Batman fans to be dissatisfied with the game. There was also the controversy which occurred towards the end of 2015 between Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment and certain retailers regarding supposed issues with the game's PC port. Fortunately, by November 2016, WB Games Montréal had reached an agreement with retailers so that customers could receive their copies without any worries. The PC version also suffered launch problems, due to the game's hardware not being optimized for PCs; this was partially due to the game using Microsoft's API Async Compute which caused issues when trying to run the game at optimum settings. The game has received several patches since launching, but these did not completely fix all of the issues that players experienced upon release. The developers, Rocksteady Studios and Iron Galaxy Studios, have continuously worked on patches for this problem over time. Although WB Games Montréal could not release any DLC content for Arkham Knight until its problems were solved, they could still release an entirely new game with features that added more content than what was already in place. A new Batman game fit for the next generation of consoles. On June 12, 2016, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Rocksteady Studios announced that a fully remastered version of the acclaimed Batman: Arkham Asylum would be releasing on October 21, 2016 and will be available to play on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One for $19.99 USD; alongside the Digital Deluxe Bundle which includes two classic adventure packs that were originally released as DLC. This remaster was made exclusively to address all of the issues presented upon release of Arkham Asylum and its later ports to other platforms such as OS X, iOS and Android devices. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has taken this opportunity to release the game again to give fans that chance to experience Batman's first foray into the Arkham series. The buyers of the game are entitled to receive all previously released bonus content, should they have owned it at some point prior to its release for free. With the success of Arkham Asylum's remaster under Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment's belt, there was no doubt in anyone's mind that a similar treatment would be given for Rocksteady Studios' later games which included the likes of Arkham City and Arkham Knight. With that being said, WB Games Montréal decided to reveal Batman: Return to Arkham exclusively at their E3 press conference on June 13, 2016. cfa1e77820
